1423 Single Barrel Selection Harvey Nichols X S.B.S Experimental Cask Series Rum Tasting Set 4 X 200ml
1423 Single Barrel Selection Harvey Nichols X S.B.S Experimental Cask Series Rum Tasting Set 4 X 200ml
In March 2022, our Spirits Buyers - Nick Larsson-Bell (Retail Buyer of the Year 2022) and Bryan Rodriguez (our resident rum specialist and judge for the IWSC, Spirits Business, World Drinks Awards and more) - travelled to Denmark to taste through 1423's immense warehouse of cask-strength rum. Together, they selected their four favourite rums and bottled them exclusively for you. This gift box contains 20cl bottles of each rum, providing a round-the-world tasting that takes you from Mauritius to Jamaica, with stop-offs in Australia and Panama… Harvey Nichols x S.B.S Panama 2010 Rum 200ml, 62.4% - Distilled by the environmentally conscious Varela Hermanos, producers of Ron Abuelo. Bottled in 2022, it showcases the immense quality and drinkability of Panamanian rum. Expect a moreish combo of dried citrus, demerara sugar, underripe pineapple, bruised banana, Walnut Whip, milky coffee, bonfire smoke, wood varnish and hazelnut oil. Sip over ice, top with a quality cola, or mix into a Rum Old Fashioned. Harvey Nichols x S.B.S Jamaica 2015 Rum 200ml, 66.4% - A powerful pot still rum from the Harvey Nichols favourite, Hampden Estate. Bottled in 2022, this is a dry, funky and dunder-led Jamaican classic. Exploding with overripe tropical fruit, leathery vanilla pod, roasted green vegetables, dark chocolate, charred grapefruit, tangy third-wave coffee, tangerine peel, green chilli, woodsmoke and black olive tapenade; we highly recommend a few drops of water to tame this one. Harvey Nichols x S.B.S Mauritius 2010 French Oak&Moscatel Cask Matured Rum 200ml, 53.5% - Created at Gray's Distillery, known for producing New Grove Rum and the African component of the incredible Equiano. Currently gathering a bit of a cult following due to the latter, Mauritian rum is an absolute joy to drink. This one was aged in two very special woods: French oak like that used in Cognac (which imparts fragrant wood and perfume notes) and ex-Moscatel wine casks (which add floral and grapey elements). Wildflowers, blossom, guava, mango, banana, grapefruit and vanilla give way to more savoury notes of roasted plantain, coffee and antique wood. Bottled in 2022, this is a comforting rum to sip neat at the end of a meal. Harvey Nichols x S.B.S Australia 2007 Rum 200ml, 69.2% - Very little is exported from Australia's oldest producer, Beenleigh Artisan Distillery. So, this is something rarely seen on these shores. Bottled in 2022, this is the oldest, strongest and maybe our favourite of the four-strong line-up. It has an almost Jamaican funk, erupting from the glass with Chinese five spice, orange, woodsmoke, orchard blossom, pineapple, mango, banana, forest floor, menthol, eucalyptus, roasted plantain and Mexican chilli peppers, before wrapping up with a Bourbon-like finish. As this is awesomely powerful, we highly recommend a few drops of water to bring out its creamy side. These precious rums were bottled at natural cask strength, so they're pretty potent. This gives you the opportunity to add a little water and create the ultimate tasting experience. 1423 was formed when a group of friends went to a whisky fair in Denmark, but unexpectedly ended up falling in love with a rum. So infatuated with this spirit, they bought and bottled their own cask of it and the rest, as they say, is history. Their passion has opened doors to some of the rarest rums on Earth and their Single Barrel Selection (S.B.S) series offers a glimpse into a truly unique universe of unblended rum that is so rarely seen.£19.88 per 100.00ml
