Winner of a Gold Medal at The Rum and Cachaça Masters 2020 held by The Spirits Business. Black Tot Finest Caribbean is a blend of honeyed Barbadian, rich Guyanese and funky Jamaican rum, inspired by a tradition that spanned some 300 years of giving sailors in the Navy a fortifying ration of rum each day. The Royal Navy ended this daily ritual on 31 July 1970, a dark day now known as Black Tot Day. 35% of the blend is five-year-old pot and column still rum from the birthplace of this spirit, Barbados, which adds tropical fruit, vanilla and coconut notes. 60% comes from Guyana, providing that dark treacly richness and the remainder comes from Jamaica, whose wild yeast, dunder and muck pits (not as gross as it sounds) add their tell-tale funk and ginger cake flavours. The result has been described as a"classic British Navy rum style"by Simon Difford of Difford's Guide for Discerning Drinkers, and it deserves a place in any serious rum collection.
