Bodegas Altolandon Enrosado Orange Wine 2021 White Wine
Rosalia Molina makes certified-organic wines in one of Spain's highest altitude wineries. Located in Manchuela (west of Valencia) at more than 1km above sea level, this is boundary-pushing stuff. The vineyards are only treated with natural fertilisers, with chickens, sheep and pigs from local farms allowed to roam freely around them. Grapes are picked by hand and are fermented with native yeasts. Beyond that, there's very little intervention in her natural wines, permitting this unique, up-and-coming terroir to shine through. Enrosado de Altolandon is an orange wine made from Grenache Gris. Orange wines have been one of the hottest trends in the wine business for many years now. For those not familiar with the style, these are white wines that are created by leaving the juice in contact with the grape skins for longer, giving it time to extract a little more body, tannin and flavour, and to take on that wonderful amber colour. Or in this case, a pale pink and almost rosé-like hue. Apricot, yellow plum skins, red apple, berry sorbet, tangy citrus, star anise and a pinch of sea salt all come together in this refreshing, delicious and deeply summery wine. Orange wine is wonderfully versatile and food friendly, so this can be paired with tapas, tagine, sushi, seafoodpaella, salads studded with juicy green olives, Thai salads or Indian street food, such as papri chaat or bhel puri.£2.07 per 100.00ml
