Château De Pez 2nd Pez Saint-Estèphe 2019 Red Wine
Château De Pez 2nd Pez Saint-Estèphe 2019 Red Wine
Introducing the inaugural vintage of Château de Pez's new second wine. Château de Pez vies with Calon-Ségur as one of the oldest winemaking estates in Saint-Estèphe. But don't think that means you're getting something fusty and old school. Once under the same ownership as First Growth Château Haut-Brion, in the mid-1990s this illustrious Bordeaux estate passed into the hands of the Rouzaud family, who also look after Champagne Louis Roederer, Château Pichon-Longueville Comtesse de Lalande, Domaines Ott, Maison Delas, Champagne Deutz and the famous Port house Ramos Pinto. So, thiswine rubs shoulders with the great and good of the fine wine world every day. In 2017, the Rouzauds sold Château Haut-Beauséjour, but retained some of the best plots for Château de Pez. This boost to supply, coupled with stricter selection for the first wine, has allowed them to create 2nd Pez 2019. Made by Nicolas Glumineau, the estate director and winemaker at Château Pichon Lalande, this blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot is an elegant melange of cherry, wild strawberry, crème de cassis, blackberry, redcurrant, oak spices, clove, tobacco, dark chocolate and dried flowers. If the second wine is this good, we can't wait to taste the Grand Vin.£4.67 per 100.00ml
