Château Giscours Grand Vin Margaux 2018 Red Wine
Château Giscours Grand Vin Margaux 2018 Red Wine
97 points,"Blackcurrant, dried blueberry, oyster shell, black-olive, black truffle, and bitter chocolate aromas. It's full-bodied with firm, fine-grained tannins and fresh acidity. Savoury and mineral layers interplay with the black fruit. Powerful and chewy, yet very polished and beautiful."- James Suckling 96 points,"Always a significant wine, this latest release, with powerful while also stylish black fruits, fits into a well-regarded tradition. The density and broad fruitiness of the wine make fine foils for each other. It is firmly structured and set for aging."- Wine Enthusiast Although Giscours'history can be traced back to the 14th Century, it was in 1552 that the first vines were planted on the estate. Located in the heart of the Margaux appellation, Giscours is blessed with an exceptional terroir. The gravel hilltops soils and the gentle climate are determinant factors in the production of the estate's balanced and elegant wines. The 2018 release of the estate is a ripe, perfectly balanced Claret with alluring notes of dark fruit, cassis, damson, juniper, graphite, sweet spices and powerful oak. They delayed picking the Cabernet Sauvignon until a little later and it really paid dividends. Elegant and fresh, this wine is perfect to be enjoyed alongside braised beef, roast lamb or wild mushrooms. But we also recommend tucking a few away in the cellar because it will be even better in 2025.£10.93 per 100.00ml
