Château Giscours Haut-Médoc Giscours 2016 Red Wine
Formerly known as'Le Haut-Médoc de Giscours', but now thankfully shortened to simply'Haut-Médoc Giscours', this is the third wine of Margaux's Château Giscours and it's built for one reason only, and that's pure pleasure. First made 30 years ago, it's produced using grapes from their historic Haut-Médoc terroirs and all the same care and attention of the Grand Vin. This wonderfully traditional estate still carries out its racking (the process of moving wine between barrels to remove the sediment) by hand and candlelight, the old-school way. Immensely aromatic and complex, Haut-Médoc Giscourswill delight your palate with the suggestion of crème de cassis, hedgerow blackberries, oak, roasted meat, sweet spices and vanilla. We recommend grabbing a few bottles of Château Giscours Grand Vin 2018 and Haut-Médoc Giscours 2016. Tuck the former in the cellar to mature and drink the latter in the meantime. Although Giscours'history can be traced back to the 14th Century, it was in 1552 that the first vines were planted on the estate. Located in the heart of the Margaux appellation, Giscours is blessed with an exceptional terroir. The gravel hilltops soils and the gentle climate are determinant factors in the production of the estate's balanced and elegant wines.£4 per 100.00ml
