Château Leoville Las Cases Grand Vin Saint-Julien 2009 Red Wine
97 points,"The 2009 Léoville Las Cases is aging very gracefully, exhibiting all the plenitude and generosity of the vintage without any of its potential excesses. Offering up aromas of sweet cassis, loamy soil, cigar wrapper, spices and a deft touch of classy new oak, it's medium to full-bodied, broad and enveloping, with a layered core of fruit framed by fine, powdery tannins, concluding with a long, beautifully defined finish. It's at the beginning of what will be a long drinking window."- Robert Parker's Wine Advocate Abutting the vineyards of the legendary Château Latour, Saint-Julien's flagship wine Château Léoville Las Cases is one of a bunch of'super seconds'vying for promotion to First Growth status. And it isn't hard to see why with this outstanding vintage. 2009 was an exceptional year in Saint-Julien. According to Robert Parker's Vintage Chart, there hasn't been a better year in the region since his records began, which makes this a bit of a must-have wine. As ever Léoville Las Cases gives the First Growths a run for their money. Pauillac-style aromas lead on to flavours of rich cassis, Cuban cigar boxes, Provence herbs and roasted nuts. This half bottle is drinking beautifully now, but it also has the potential to run and run. If you have to enjoy it with friends, make sure the gathering is small to avoid eking it out too thinly and missing out yourself.£50.67 per 100.00ml
