Diamond Creek Cabernet Sauvignon 2018 Magnum Trio 3 X 1500ml Red Wine
Diamond Creek Cabernet Sauvignon 2018 Magnum Trio 3 X 1500ml Red Wine
Calling all fans of collectable, cult, Californian Cabs. We've got the ultimate treat for you… This case is one the rarest and most exciting opportunities we've ever offered. It contains all three of Diamond Creek's unique terroir Cabernet Sauvignons in magnum format, perfect for laying down to mature gracefully. Each one comes from 2018, which presented near-perfect growing conditions, and we predict huge scores for these wines from the critics when they eventually get their hands on them. An incredible addition to any fine wine cellar or Californian collection, inside you'll discover: 1 x Diamond Creek Volcanic Hill Magnum 2018, 1500ml - The longest lived of Diamond Creek's sensational Cabernet Sauvignon wines, this will be the last one to tuck into. Being the warmest of the three microclimates, this vineyard creates the biggest, richest red, full of black cherry, blackberry, crème de cassis, espresso, liquorice and smokiness. 1 x Diamond Creek Red Rock Terrace Magnum 2018, 1500ml - Coming from soils high in oxidised iron, which adds a unique character the wine. For us, this is Diamond Creek's most velvety Cabernet Sauvignon, always displaying sensational balance. Slowly unravelling, it presents notes of Black Forest gateau, blackberry, crème de cassis, Earl Grey tea, brandy-laced Christmas pudding, rhubarb, biscuit, iron and herby gravy. 1 x Diamond Creek Gravelly Meadow Magnum 2018, 1500ml - The most elegant of the three. The cooler microclimate creates a wine with a gorgeous earthiness combined with blackcurrant, plum crumble, graphite, crushed rocks, lavender, sage, black tea and cacao notes. Al Brounstein was so inspired by a wine appreciation class that he quit his job as a salesman immediately. A true Francophile, he flew to France and took cuttings from Cabernet Sauvignon vines in Bordeaux, then smuggled them via Mexico into the US. He and his wife, Adelle'Boots'Brounstein, then bought an overgrown and rocky plot of prune trees in the north of Napa Valley. That region is now known as Diamond Mountain District and the iconic wines produced at the Brounstein's Diamond Creek Vineyard helped to put it on the map. Founded in 1968, Diamond Creek became California's first exclusively Cabernet Sauvignon estate. They found that the area they'd bought contained three very different kinds of soil, resulting in three very different wines: Volcanic Hill, Red Rock Terrace and Gravelly Meadow. Adding this information to the labels, they became only the second producer in the state to use vineyard designations. The Brounsteins have now sadly passed away, but nothing puts the fine wine status they achieved in context quite like Diamond Creek's new owners. In 2020, the vineyards were purchased by the Rouzauds - one of the wine world's most powerful and discerning families who also look after Champagne Louis Roederer, Château Pichon-Longueville Comtesse de Lalande, Domaines Ott, Maison Delas, Ramos Pinto, Merry Edwards and Champagne Deutz.£52.22 per 100.00ml
