Dog Point Chardonnay 2018 White Wine
Dog Point Chardonnay 2018 White Wine
94 points,"A complex Chardonnay with guava, lime and lightly grilled-peach aromas, as well as flint and toasted hazelnut. The palate has an impressively taut and concentrated feel with praline, hazelnut, peach and lemon flavours all intertwined. Good depth here."- James Suckling This Chardonnay perfectly demonstrates Dog Point's love of Burgundy. This wonderfully rewarding wine is a complex barrel-load of flint, creamy lemon posset, pencil shavings, pineapple, toasted almonds and hazelnuts, and crunchy melon. It's a silky delight that's calling out for flamboyant dishes with cream, tropical fruit or buttery sauces. Marlborough's Dog Point is owned by winemakers James Healy and Ivan Sutherland - both former Cloudy Bay employees - and their partners Wendy and Margaret. The two bonded while working at New Zealand's most famous winery and decided to get a bit more'hands-on'by branching out on their own. The team love Burgundy and are highly influenced by the great region, they've also moved their entire operation under the Biogro programme making all their farming organic. Dog Point takes its name from the name given to the area by the shepherds of the first European settlements, whose dogs wandered off or became lost in the tussocks and rolling hills. In a relatively short time, it has become one of New Zealand's finest and most sought-after wine producers.£3.73 per 100.00ml
