Doghouse Distillery Renegade New Age London Gin 50ml
Does your rebellious streak find you in the doghouse now and again? Then raise a glass of London's most punk gin in a brand-new miniature 5cl format… The majority of the capital's distilleries buy in neutral spirit and therefore don't control the very basis of their own liquor. The defiant Renegade Gin, however, is truly grain to glass. Based in a railway arch in Battersea, Doghouse Distillery didn't take its name from the neighbouring Dogs Home, but rather the propensity of its head distiller to land himself in trouble after a night on the sauce. That man is Braden Saunders, who describes himself as a closet hipster who couldn't grow a beard so he makes gin instead. He and his team take wheat, mill it, mash it, brew it, ferment it and then distil it. Then they begin to make the gin itself. Using a secret blend of fourteen botanicals - which include juniper, coriander, cardamom, angelica, orris, grains of paradise, bitter orange and seven mysterious others - Doghouse set out to make a gin that was neither too dry nor too sweet, something of a session gin; the pale ale of the gin world if you will. The result is racking up an impressive list of cocktail bar clients across the city and beyond. The tropical base spirit is layered up with leafy sage, herby pine, cooling mint and uncompromising juniper. Renegade is London Gin in the truest sense and one that goes against the grain by starting with it.
