Laurent Guillet has been making wine in Beaujolais since 1987, and took over his father's estate in Morgon in 2000. He later married Laurence, who came from a family of blacksmiths who also owned one hectare of wild old bush vines in Chiroubles. Together, from this tiny untrellised plot, they developed La Forge. So, this really is a wine born of love and a lot of hard graft. Although meant to be consumed young, this vegan-friendly Gamay has dark depth and real backbone. Notes of blackberries, blueberries and raspberries, are lifted by notes of violets, smoky spices and wildflowers.
