Duvel Barrel Aged Irish Whiskey Edition Belgian Beer 750ml & Glass Pack
This is the seventh expression in Duvel's small-batch Barrel Aged Series. It was brewed at a potent 11.5%, then aged in Irish whiskey barrels from the Teeling distillery in Dublin, imparting powerful notes of vanilla and oak, plus a hint of smoky peat. The Hop Devil meets Saint Patrick. Barrel Aged Irish Whiskey Edition Belgian Beer is a brew for connoisseurs and epicureans. Treat it as you might a fine wine, pairing it with mature cheeses, game, grilled meat, Irish stew, colcannon and champ, roast pumpkin or black and white pudding with braised red cabbage and apples. Its weight and flavour profile also make it a fine choice for the festive season, making it possibly an option to serve after Christmas dinner as you relax next to a crackling fireplace. Serve it chilled to around 8-10°C from the specifically designed glass that comes with each bottle. Jan-Leonard Moortgat and his wife established Brouwerij Duvel Moortgat in 1871. At the time, there were more than 3,000 breweries in Belgium. Learning by trial and error, his top-fermented beers became the choice of the Brussels bourgeoisie. While many of those Belgian breweries have fallen by the wayside, Duvel has remained strong. And today it's run by the fourth generation of the Flemish family and their beers are exported to more than 60 countries around the globe. Scots will be pleased to know that the beer is made using a unique yeast strain that stems from an original culture of Scottish yeast that the Moortgat family bought while on a business trip. The name,'Duvel', comes from the word for'devil'in Brabantian, Ghent and Antwerp dialect. And it really is devilishly good.£6 per 100.00ml
