Exton Park Vineyard Limited Release Plot 4 Pinot Meunier Rosé English Sparkling Wine NV Sparkling Wine
94 points,"A limited release from the Winchester-based producer made using 100% Pinot Meunier. Sourced from the fourth plot of Exton Park's 60-acre vineyard, which features clay topsoil and chalk. Aged for 3 years on lees and a further 3 years in cellar, the rosé has a pronounced nose of soya, spiced red apple and red berries, hinting at graceful maturation. Savoury with more soy sauce umami, burnt sugar and a rich inner layer of brioche and red apple on the palate."- Decanter Exton Park's winemaker, Corinne Seely, considers this limited-edition rosé one of her"greatest achievements", calling it"a 25-year labour of love."It was crafted using 100% Pinot Meunier from the meticulously trained fourth plot of their vineyard. Expect freshly cut flowers, ripe white peach, apple crumble, tangerine, crème brûlée, summer fruit sorbet, brioche and something deep and savoury, almost reminiscent of mushroom soy sauce. We were only able to secure six bottles of this sensational fizz, so if you're lucky enough to get one, consider pairing it with tapas, mezze or smoke trout, and then inviting everyone around to share it with you. After a decade of development and stringent testing, the team at Exton Park has come to the conclusion that the way to craft world-class sparkling wines in the temperamental climate of the UK is to create Reserve Blends - multi-vintage wines curated from reserve stocks. This approach guarantees consistent excellence year after year, whatever the weather may bring. Exton Park is a unique proposition because they're a single-vineyard producer. Their fruit comes from nine plots in one vineyard on chalky South Downs hills. The company is run by Robin McMillan, a gentleman who previously headed up Decanter, The Wine Society and Berry Bros&Rudd, so clearly knows his onions. The wines are made under the watchful eye of Corinne Seely, who has worked in Australia, Languedoc, the Douro Valley and at the prestigious Domaine de Chevalier in Pessac-Léognan, Bordeaux. This experienced team was also one of the founding members of WineGB's Sustainable Wines of Great Britain accreditation. This means that they take the most natural approach possible when growing their fruit, support biodiversity and reduce their carbon footprint using solar power.£11.33 per 100.00ml
