House Of Suntory Roku Japanese Gin 200ml
House Of Suntory Roku Japanese Gin 200ml
Ichi, ni, san, shi, go, roku. That's counting to six in Japanese. And you need to ichi, ni, san, shi, go get yourself a mini bottle of Roku. This Japanese craft gin comes from the illustrious Suntory stable, a trail blazer in the malt whisky world. In addition to traditional botanicals - juniper, lemon peel, bitter orange, coriander, angelica, cardamom and cinnamon - Roku uses six very Japanese botanicals inspired by the four seasons. Sakura (or cherry blossom flowers) and sakura leaf for spring, sencha and gyokuro tea for summer, fiery sansho pepper for autumn, and yuzu peel for winter. The calligraphy label is printed on washi paper and the bottle is hexagonal to represent the six botanicals; the Japanese attention-to-detail and craftsmanship is apparent before you even open it. Inside, it's deep, earthy and herbal with a spicy lick of pepper, sweet vanilla, tangy citrus and a long dry green tea finish. This makes a cracking martini and, with a slice of ginger, a wonderful jintonikku (that's Japanese for gin and tonic).£7.5 per 100.00ml
