First made back in 1997, this is one of Kilikanoon's favourite wines, and one ours too. Prodigal Grenache sets the benchmark for Clare Valley's old-vine Grenache. Hailing from a 60-year-old vineyard, this comforting and vegan-friendly red seems to vibrate with energy, dark fruit (think hedgerow blackberries, blueberry jam, wild strawberries, cherry liqueur and purple plums), dried flowers, menthol, peppery spiced meat, marzipan, and cocoa-dusted truffles. Round and velvety, this is one of those wines for cold, dark nights and hunkering down. It's no secret that we're big fans of Clare Valley's Kilikanoon because they create our own label Shiraz and Riesling. Mort Mitchell, father to Kevin the winemaker and proprietor at Kilikanoon, first planted vines in the now infamous Mort's Block vineyard in South Australia over 40 years ago. With their trusted secateurs, or'snips'as they're affectionately known, Kevin and his team still lovingly tend those vines to this day. This ambitious winery has also expanded its vineyards to become one of Clare Valley's top producers.£2.93 per 100.00ml
