Marimar Estate La Masía Pinot Noir 2017 Red Wine
Marimar Estate La Masía Pinot Noir 2017 Red Wine
La Masía means'the farmhouse', named after the Catalonian-style winery built in California by the Torres family to remind them of their home region in Spain. The grapes for this oaky Pinot Noir come from the biodynamic Don Miguel Vineyard, named after the late, great Miguel Torres. Located in the coolest and foggiest part of the Russian River Valley, this vineyard creates very European-feeling wines, and this one with its pomegranate, orange peel, red cherry, rose petal, blueberry muffin, toasted nuts and vanilla-laced oak is no exception. A chunky enough Pinot Noir to match with almost anything, but it puts us in the mood to sear meat leaving it pink inside, fry up some wild mushrooms or cook up a sauce with cherry tomatoes and garden herbs. A little piece of Spain in Sonoma, California. Born in Barcelona, fluent in six languages and the daughter of the great Miguel Torres, the pioneering Marimar Torres cracked the American market wide open for Spanish wines and her family's business. Settling down in North America in 1975, she created the iconic Spanish brand's Californian outpost, Marimar Estate, and built a Catalan-style farmhouse and winery. Not satisfied with simply making fabulous wines from estate-grown fruit, her operation has recently become solar powered and certified sustainable, and amidst all that, Marimar found time to publish several cookbooks on the subject of Spanish cuisine.£6.4 per 100.00ml
