Nikka Taketsuru Pure Malt Japanese Whisky
Nikka Taketsuru Pure Malt Japanese Whisky
The Nikka Whisky Co. was founded by Masataka Taketsuru, who is widely acknowledged as the father of Japanese whisky. Established in 1934, the company has two large distilleries and several blending and bottling plants and is now part of the Asahi Group. Nikka Taketsuru Pure Malt is a no-age-statement blended malt which contains a high percentage of malt from Miyagikyo, with the remainder coming from Yoichi. This expression replaces the old style with the black label, which was discontinued in early 2020, and pays homage to the historic flavour profile of Taketsuru Pure Malt. The formula has been refined to create a finely balanced blend with a rich mouthfeel and a delightful smokiness. Opening with lemon peel, marmalade and pear aromas, it develops to take on garden herbs, sweet peat and pink grapefruit. The palate is perfectly rounded, with notes of granola, flapjack, cardamom, mixed peel, dried apple, candied fruit, orchard blossom, dark chocolate and more warming peat. With this new blend, Taketsuru Pure Malt has further cemented its position as probably the finest entry-level Japanesewhisky on the market. It remains a great example of why this category is currently so popular.£11 per 100.00ml
