Puech-Haut Prestige Rouge 2018 Red Wine
""It's going to evolve for a solid 3-5 years, possibly even a decade, although there's no need to delay gratification, as it's beautiful today."- Jeb Dunnuck"Intense and complex and dramatic. But not overdone, the concentration held back in perfect balance. Very impressive."- Jancis Robinson's Purple Pages Puech-Haut is a hidden gem hidden in the south of France. Described by Decanter's Andrew Jefford as"a Languedoc dark horse", the organic wines from Gérard Bru's estate are not to be missed. The Prestige Rouge is made from Syrah and Grenache, picked from older vines near Pic Saint Loup. This deep-purple wine feels almost like a Rhône red with the umami and spices turned up to eleven. Brace yourself for lush cherry liqueur chocolate, raspberry, blackcurrant and prune fruit, combined with notes coffee, soy sauce and roasted mushroom, all finished with a seasoning of black pepper, Chinese five spice and rose petals. Serve thiswonderful red up with Chinese braised mushrooms, grilled meats, slow-cooked stews, barbeque sauces or rich tagines with lots of harissa. We can't help thinking that if this secret star came from the Rhône Valley, it would probably cost significantly more than this.£3.27 per 100.00ml
