Established in 1826, by a man believed originally to have been an illicit whisky-maker, Royal Lochnagar is one of the smallest distilleries in the Scottish Highlands. It stands just beyond the boundaries of Balmoral Castle, and was a favourite of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. A combination of nature's finest ingredients and the distiller's art result in the distinctive, mellow taste of Royal Lochnagar, which is matured for twelve years in oak barrels before being bottled. Stylistically, Royal Lochnagar is light and delicate with rich malty elements balanced by spice and fruit.
