In 1810 this was renamed Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin after the young widow Barbe Nicole Ponsardin who inherited the estate. Ever in pursuit of excellence and innovation, Madame Clicquot used her skills to develop an exceptional wine-growing territory and went on to establish what is today one of the most famous names in Champagne.
