Just a phenomenal bottling that seems to combine the classic spice of rye with the nutty, fruity moreishness of Bourbon. Only the finest barrels make it into this cask-strength, small-batch whiskey, and it just erupts from the glass with Bakewell tart, heavily toasted oak, cherry cola, crème brûlée, cherry chocolate liqueurs, Christmas spices, toffee, dried apricots, burnt flapjack and green peppercorns. This is a dram that punches well above its age and its price point and is not to be missed. John David Willett was born in 1841 and became a Kentucky distiller of considerable repute. The family have followed in his footsteps ever since, building their very own distillery shortly after the repeal of Prohibition.
